A picture hiding in the math
The grid has 16 × 16 = 256 squares and every square holds a problem. Kids add, find the answer in the key and color the square, or leave it white when the key says so. Row by row a pixel picture shows up, and the fun part is guessing it before the end.
There are 5 colors in the key: black, brown, yellow, orange, tan. Several answers share each color, so the pattern cannot be copied, and a mistake is easy to see.
Good to know
- Work one row at a time: solve the whole row, then color it.
- Sharp colored pencils or fine markers suit the small squares best.
- The colored answer key is on page 2.
- "Color online" works on tablets and counts the correct squares for you.
